Principal Consultant

Kristen Klaassen, ECSE, M.A., is the owner and founder of Mosaic Mindset Consulting. Initially, Kristen believed she would teach young children forever because she loved working in the classroom, especially with children who had significant delays or who exhibited really challenging behaviors. Observing and playing with children, collaborating with staff and families was a dream for her—until she discovered her passion for training and coaching adults. From that point on, she was hooked on supporting and uplifting adults in early childhood.

Kristen has over 30 years of experience in early childhood education, with 25 years dedicated to coaching and 20 years to teaching coaching. She was a lead developer of the Early Childhood Coaching Certificate at the University of Colorado Denver and has been teaching Course One since its inception in 2011. Additionally, Kristen served as a practicum faculty member for 15 years; a developer, trainer and coach for a social and emotional curriculum for 22 years; and provided professional development through the Colorado Department of Education for 25 years.

Bank Street Education Center

The Bank Street Education works with leaders from schools, districts, states, teacher preparation programs, and communities across the country to advance system-wide change and support capacity building at scale. Our work aims to improve the care and education of students from birth through higher education by strengthening and enabling the success of the adults who support them. Through partnerships and programs led by our Graduate School of Education and the Bank Street Education Center, we are building an evidence base to inform local practice and address some of the nation’s deepest organizational challenges currently hindering effective and equitable teaching and learning for all.

By tapping into the longstanding knowledge-base and expertise of Bank Street educators and leaders, we tailor our work to fit the distinct strengths, needs, and opportunities of program partners to help students thrive in school settings. Our work is grounded in Bank Street’s commitment to strengths-based, learner-centered, and equitable educational practices.
